Nursery Progress: We Have Bedding!

So, this is probably getting a little boring now.  But I’m having a lot of fun documenting our progress on the nursery.  So there. *sticks out tongue*  I can’t wait for the whole thing to be finished as we have lots of projects in the works.  We both got a serious rush of inspiration and motivation to work more on it this past week.  So that meant some shopping.  Today we went to Ikea, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Pier 1 (for some colorful inspiration).  We got lots of materials for some future projects which will become their own blog posts eventually.  Maybe even one tonight.  ;)

As I said in the last post, we got the bedding.  Just needed a mattress.  Which we got this week (only took 24 hours to get from Amazon, hot damn!) And as promised, here is the picture of the completed bed!  I love, love, love it.  I want to just snuggle up in it myself.  Haha.  It’s perfect and exactly what I pictured from the get-go.  I love every detail from the cording on the top of the bumper, to the trim on the bottom of the skirt, to the fluffy yellow bows.  Enjoy.

We have 3 other sheets that are in the works to inter-change when needed; a plain yellow, an aqua & white dot/swirl, and a coral one.  My mom and I are making the other 3, this is the one we had the girl make so it’s the show-sheet for now.  The coral one will really help tie in the color from the wall, but really we just wanted coral to be a highlight in the room and for the main colors to be aqua and yellow so those are going to be more prominent throughout.

Here’s another view of the crib, with the insanely perfect blanket that my mom found at Goodwill, which I couldn’t have been more thrilled when she gave it to us!

So, it’s really shaping up.  Like I said, we have some projects in the works so once those are complete, I’ll start posting other parts of the room, such as the wall where the dresser is (which I gave a sneek peek of on the last entry), and the wall behind the door which hasn’t really been seen yet.  We have something special planned for all 3 walls of course – the 4th wall consisting mostly of the closet doors and window.  And obviously, the wall that the crib is against needs lots of work!

To do:

  • Paint
  • Furniture
  • Bedding
  • Mattress
  • Repaint the blue on the walls
  • Closet organizers
  • Drawer liners
  • Art wall
  • Lamp & shade
  • Curtains
  • Shelving unit?
  • Baby book
  • Pocket shelves
  • Mobile
  • Find a glider!
  • Sheets
  • Baby quilt w/ mom
  • Lighting
  • Fan
Yikes – we have very little checked off our list compared to everything we still NEED to do to complete the nursery.  And that doesn’t even include all the baby stuff we will need in order to actually take care of the baby!  Oh, why can’t money grow on trees?
P.S. Sadly… we will not be using the crib bumper once Finn is here.  At least not until he is at least 6 months old.  You are not supposed to use crib bumpers due to safety reasons and they have become more of an aesthetic part of the nursery than anything.  They make the crib look adorable and finished.  But they are not safe.  With the regulations for widths between crib slats, there’s almost no risk of babies getting their legs caught or broken.  They may slip through the slats and be uncomfortable for a bit, but the baby won’t ever seriously hurt himself.  So, we’ll leave it in til he is sleeping in his own crib, then it will be put away until he can roll himself over and do all that good stuff.

Looks wonderful! And your closet project=Super Cute! What a great idea!!! If you don’t check anything else off your list, I think you’ll be fine…it already looks so much better (and more unique) than almost every nursery I’ve seen. Oh, except the baby book–you need one of those! :D
