One thing that I came across that was so motivating in not only getting this blog going, but getting our HOUSE going, was Apartment Therapy’s January Cure, which I have decided to loudly and proudly call, February Cure, as I didn’t quite get my stuff (read: self) together to start it in January. But come February, it is on! What is
January February Cure? Well, in the words of Apartment Therapy:
We’re getting organized! For the first time in more than a year, we are running a group Apartment Therapy Cure. If you are ready to whip your home into shape, get it clean, organized and under control, we’re here to help – let’s do it together! We’ll be posting assignments each weekday from January 2 through February 1, giving you all the info you need to know to follow along and stay motivated. By the end of January, you’ll be sitting pretty in a clean, fresh, organized home.
It sounded pretty damn motivating to me, and is exactly what I need. Some of the genius tasks (to me) so far have been things like setting up an “outbox” which is a halfway house where things sit while their fate is being decided. Genius. I have about 30 of these all over my kitchen and living room, except they never get emptied and they only move into another room or gasp! the dark pit of despair, otherwise known as the garage. Womp womp. Creating just one of these in a more functional location and then making sure that I empty it out at the end of each week will really help us cut the clutter. I also like the idea of tacking a project that I’ve been wanting to do or framing something I’ve been wanting to frame and having clearly written goals each day and weekend. There’s even a calendar they provide! What a way to start the year. I love it. It is so inspirational. And one of the best parts about it is the end goal which is that you are preparing for some kind of get together with your friends. In our newly organized house. A scrap-meet with the girls, perhaps? :)
